Komichi-sou or “Komichi Villa”
Arakawa-ward, Machiya is an area where you can feel the folksy downtown Tokyo. The owner bought a wooden house unfit for full reconstruction and renovated it into a lodging house.
The first floor is a shared kitchen dining space and private room for the owner, four private rooms on the second floor. Lodging consists of two rooms for long term, two for short term stay, mixing the two style on one floor is by consideration, so a senior junior like relationship to occur, leading to voluntary spirit and on-going communication.
The “Gesyukuyado” program the owner cohabit offer guests a sense of security, not only could they obtain lots of local information but also receive fun and rich services such as pickups, bicycle rental and food exchanges, served by the owner in a natural manner.
This project took on a revenue-sharing type design and supervision agreement, as the designer continues to be involved in the operation, and will be receiving compensation according to sales.
